Hello everyone;
I have been thinking of up dating an old friend of mine that is an Remington 870. It is a custom job that the original owner had sent to  Scatter gun technologies whom  I think are now part of Bill's guys.
Anyway Summing it up it is a 870 3"express magnum with a customized shortened vent rib smooth bore barrel with a front sight blade to match the rear peep sight that is mounted to the receiver.  From here most all the normal riot gun accessories etc..etc..

Here is what I am thinking and would appreciate input on. I would like to replace the wood stock with one that would maybe be lighter and more portable. Maybe a thumb hole or collapsible that is known to be of good quality and performance. Recoil reduction is a plus but there is a budget.

Two and more appropriate to this forum I would like to add a scope that would make a good close range night hunting illuminated add on. Again budget comes in to play; here if it don't get to many laughs I would like to stay 2 to $300. The receiver looks to be drilled and tapped for a rail so I will be looking to find one of these as well.

You know while I have the opportunity I might ask for suggestions on rifled slug as well. The shot gun came to me with 4 or 5 boxes of Rottweil Brenneke Magnums that shoot very well. I mean 200 yard 5 shoot groups inside pie plates off a bench. Good I know but one must always be open to suggestions.

Too While we are on the subject of these slugs; they kick the action open when fired. No other round that I have put through this thing will do this. But they do kick like a mule and do open the action like 1/4 of the way when fired. Anyone ever seen this or know if it is a bad thing?

Well its good to be posting again and I hope everyone is doing well.

I installed a Mesa Tactical AR type stock with their "Hydraulic Recoil Buffer" on my 870 Police and really like the setup. I tried an other brand that used a spring system and it slapped me in the face while firing. The Mesa Tactical while expensive works fine. http://www.mesatactical.com/index.php?id=55

You know this is great info as I wanted the AR adjustable type stock but kept hearing of people taking the lick on the chick and got scared  away. I'll look in to this.
Thanks

Everyone holds a gun a little different but this set up works fine for me, next time I'm at the range I'll ask my buddy to try my 870 and see if he also likes it. BTW, there are a few videos showing this set up on youtube.

I think if it were me I'd go with the Badger Ordance rail and the Aimpoint because it should be very rugged and it eliminates parallax issues for quicker shooting.
