Ok.....seriously thinking about picking up the Barrett Kit with single shot, 3200 scope, bipod, case, all new for 3250 shipped.....
Am i mentally disabled for even thinking about this? My thoughts are that even if I never shot it, or rarely did, its such a great price that I could get my money back out of it. Plus, have seen 50 cal ammo for 2.50 a round or so right now.....
Someone slap some sense into me before I decide its an investment...

You are asking the wrong crowd. We are enablers. I say buy it. I would if I had that kind of money. |

I love mine... her name is Elvira... Mistress of the Dark, she works well in it and can BRING it...
Ammo prices are not too bad. It is an AWESOME piece of hardware. 50BMG is fun to shoot, any time.
Have fun...

How is the recoil? Looking specifically at the Barrett 99A1.....Found Federal AE 660 grn for 26.99 a box, seems reasonable, cheaper then 338. Single shot part seems not so cool, would rather have a mag fed, but for price seems pretty darn good deal.
No worries, would have lots of room at the farm to stretch its legs.

Half the time, for target work, I single feed my bolt actions anyway.... Maybe I'm the only one.

I have an Anzio Ironworks super lightweight (18lbs, 18inch barrel, SS10xHD (#666) rifle scope). Elvira shoots well under 1MOA. The Barretts I don't find as good a deal, but some do. I just like the Anzio better. Simplicity and accuracy.
I think the ammo you mentioned is a 10 round box. You can get AP for 30, sometimes 50, cents a round less and it is as accurate as just about anything you can find. Some ranges, a lot of ranges, won't let you shoot with AP. I've found it fouls less than a lot of others, as well. The solid brass stuff is extremely accurate for a few rounds, but fouls the barrel pretty quickly.
Recoil with the Anzio is really mild. It's less than the Barrett. Not trying to talk you out of a Barrett, though. A Barrett is, any day, MUCH better than not having one. The blowback from the brake is a force to be reckoned with... it's elemental...
It's an expensive hobby. You don't REALLY, probably, want to hunt with it... I don't know, I might.

Recoil on the Barrett is not bad at all. I would compare it to a 12gage. My buddy has one and I have the Armalite AR50.

I love my 99A1 with SS 10x42HD. That is a great price and you could most likely sell it used for that price. Mine is a 1 moa rifle and could be more when i get used to it, DO IT!

If you end up getting one, I would avoid the Bushnell 3200 as a friend of mine bought the same package and his died quite promptly from the recoil. I'd go for one of the fixed 10 power Super Snipers.
