I have an Intensity 3.8x12x44.  Intensity is a discontinued line of scopes which is now available under the Weaver label as a 40/44.  If I return my Intensity to Weaver for warranty, I might get a Weaver scope back.  This particular model has an aspherical lens system.  The 2.8 and 3.8 beginning magnification Weaver scopes are aspherical lens.   The clarity/brightness of my scope is very very good and I have absolutely no complaints about it.    Gent I shoot with one day showed up at range with another guys rifle to try some hunting reloads he'd done for the owner.  Rifle had same Intensity as mine.  After several rounds downrange with the rifle, gent loudly exclaimed to no one in particular, "I can't believe how clear this scope is!"  This guy is pretty scope savvy....you will not find any cheap scopes or off-brands on any of his own rifles.  So for him to be impressed with what is a Weaver 40/44, confirmed what I thought about mine.  By the way, think the scope is made in the Philippines.

+1. I have 4 of the Intensity 2.8-10x44, same scope as the weaver 40/44 series, and they are super clear and have held zero nicely so far!
