Anyone have any experience with these binos? Are they worth 68 bucks bnib? Considering these or the Minox BD porros same size for 199 bnib, but open box special. Is it worth spending the extra cash thinking the Minox binos are better? Does anyone know where the Sightron binos are made? All my other Sightron optics are made in Japan and the last time I spoke to the company they said all there products were made there, but that was several years ago and you know how things change. Thanks in advance for any help.

I bought a pair of the Sightron SII 10x50 porros and wasn't very impressed. The field of view they quote is wrong. They took the FOV in meters at 1000 meters and just converted meters to feet and ignored the fact that 1000 meters is farther away than 1000 yards. The optics were OK, but not great. The diopter was screwed up too, so I sent them back.
The Minox porros have a narrow FOV, but the optics are superb. Far better than the Sightrons and the Minox has internal focussing to boot. If you want something less expensive, I'd go with the Nikon Action Extremes or Bushnell Legend porro. I'd buy the Minox. |
