WOW what a price.  Is it me or does that seem a bit steep for what they say has been done?

338 WM in a 7.5 pound package: it's gonna kick a little.

I've always wondered it Ed Brown rifles were worth the $$.

I thought SWFA had a Steyr for sale with one of their carborn fiber barrels awhile back. It looked pretty nice.

Christensen Arms is about 30 miles from where I live.

A local smith I know says what they do to the barrels makes them actually loose accuracy.  Granted this is just what he claims as I have never shot one.

But they take a good barrel and machine it down until it is just thick enough to support the round it is shooting.  Then they wrap/attach the carbon fiber around it.

He claims that by machining it they ruin the perfect straightness of the barrel and they no longer shoot as good as they would.

Either way, what they are doing seems pretty neat to me.  One thing is for sure, they are much lighter than your average gun.  I held one with a 26ish (I am just guessing) length barrel and it felt like holding a 10/22.
Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

Utah has a bunch of gun makers
Echols in Logan
DTA (Desert Tactical Arms)
LAR
Christensen arms
Robinson Arms xcr

Shot a couple of Christensens and they were as accurate as any custom counter part.

Last week end got to run one of there CA-15 carbons thru its tricks. You cannot believe the balance!!!Takes the front end heavies out of the ars.
As far as ruining the accuracy of an already good barrel---- would you want them to start with an average or so barrel, charge you for turning it down and adding graphite????

While they do look very nice, I've got to agree with SVT_Tactical:  4.2+ K is far more than I'd ever be willing to pay.

I don't think I've ever heard a bad word about Hill Country Rifles other than some thinking they were somewhat pricey. If you look around at any other top name rifle maker, they are right in line price wise. Borden, Bansner, McWhorter, McMillan etc pretty much get 4K+ for their top-of-the-line rifles. I like the fact that these guys are all using custom actions these days instead of trued up 700's as I feel this increases resale in the event you might need to sell one of them.

What I like about HCR is as Roy mentioned is, they are using mostly custom actions these days and  actually shoot the gun to test accuracy and break in. Still wish I could afford oneBoo Hoo

I know a couple spoiled rich kids, uh ... hunters, I mean, that have Christenson rifles and those rifles shoot!  If what the smith was saying is true, it would be downright scary how they would shoot with unaltered barrels.  I like how they feel, too.  Out of my price range, though.

"With our pattented carbon barrel, accurized precision action, lightest & strongest carbon fiber stock out there, this is guaranteed to shoot 1/2" 3 shot groups at 100 yards with appropriate ammo"
you gotta love the qualifier!   LOL!   OK, next question, Do they also supply a 60ml bottle with those sales?  Because somebody needs a urinalysis if they think I'm paying that much for a rifle!!!   Roll on Floor Laughing
