Bigdaddy0381,

The guys I know who hunt with a rifle all use electronic muffs.  Not only do they reduce the blast, they definately increase the sounds of the woods.  Win.  Win.

I can fire my .375 all day long because it has a very good brake and a good kickpad.

 pyro6999,

I am very happyy for you.  What does your rifle weigh?  What kind of recoil reduction system to you have?   What load?

One day my son-in-law and I went to the range for a couple hours of shooting.  We both fired thirty rounds.  The averaged velocity for .375 was 2,950 feet per second with 270 grainers.  He fired a 7mm Mag with 140 grainers at 3,200.

At the end of the day he had a severe bruise with litterally a blood blister in the middle of the bruise.  My shoulder wasn't even read.

What does my rifle weigh???     my rifle weighs in at 10 lbs 6 oz with scope and rings.
What kind of recoil reduction system do i have???  uh my shoulderBig Grin
What load??? 75 gr of varget and a 270gr hornady sp.

2950 with a 270gr bullet out of the H&H?? the fastest load for the .375 rum isnt even that fast with a 270gr bullet, in any of my manuals. i would maybe buy 2800-2850fps but that would have to be using at least a 30" tube. im shooting a 26"  tube. how close was the chrono to the end of the barrel??

pyro6999,

Sorry to misslead you.  My .375 is not an H&H.  It is a .416 Rem Mag necked to .375 with a 28" Douglas barrel.  I use 82.5 grains of IMR4320.  I get the same velocity with 300 grainers if I use 98 grains of RL22.

3_tens,

Have you ever heard of a custom reamer and a custom gunsmith?  You went to considerable trouble to look silly.

I have had about a dozen wildcats.  This .375-.416 Rem Mag actually was originally called a .375-8 Rem Mag and is made on a Kleinguenther K14 Action in 1983.  I use the new nomiclature because the .416 is a more current caliber so it will be more recognized.  I used to make duplex loads to get over 3,000 feet per second firing a 300 grain Sierra.  The RL22 made things so much easier.

Duplex loads are a combination of two or more powders to acchieve what was not posible with the powders available today.  They were tedious, but effective.

pyro6999,

I just noticed you asked how far was it to the chrono?  I stretched it as far as the wire allows.  It seems about 12-15'.

This barrel has lasted considerably longer than its predicisor.  It was a 7-.300 Weatherby.  When I finally retired it the throat was eroded about 3/4".  I've tried the 7 Rem Mag, the 7 STW, and the 7 RUM.  If I was to do another 7mm it would be back to the 7-.300 Weatherby.

Did you check out the link to the photos?  Since you like that type of stuff I posted it specifically for you.  I know I like to do and read about comparisons of optics so I could cooperate with your simple request.  Glad to be of service.
