H 4350 for my .300 wsm. Don't own a .270. Imr 4350 works well too, but the Hogdon powder is a bit less temperature sensitive and gives me a bit less seasonal variation.

VV n560 (surprise) I will have to say VV 560 meters well measures well and seems to be ver very very consistent fps i chrono the test loads and the next 100 rounds when i choose a load and it is the most consistent
someone once told me i just put greater care and attention when i load VV powders and that is not true...
for .223 or 5.56 nato i use 2230 not VV because the 2230 meters fantastically and is more consistent than any other powder I have tried thus far (zip works better than the VV it seems to meter and measure better and is a little more consistent tried many times)
I am going to throw this out there again and hope to not start another fire i have tested many times and found a chrono the only way to know your loads for maximum accuracy and ballistics there is no way too do it without proper measurement...
Back on topic It is your choice as you see everyone has a fav and you have to choose for yourself. That is the beauty of it. Heck I am going to try the rl22... Edited by 338LAPUASLAP - January/19/2011 at 21:54 |

These are all pretty good and should provide decent accuracy as well as velocity.

I've used H4831 in the 270 Winchester for years.
In my 270 WSM I settled on RL 22 with 140 grain bullets and like that for this rifle. In the 300 WSM I have been loading with different powders. I tried some Accurate powder called MAGPRO with 180 grain bullets and would say at this time that it did the best of any other powder that I used in the 300 WSM. I need to load and shoot some more, but at this time the MAGPRO produced the most velocity with pressure being OK and good groups also. |

I use rl-22 in my 270 for 140 gr bullets. Before I went ti rl-22, I used h4831. Hard to go wrong either way.

I use H4831sc in my 270. Running max load of 58 gr with a 140 Nosler Accubond. Don't start with the max. I started at 54 gr and worked up in .5 gr increments to see if I crossed an accuracy node. 58gr .005 off the lands did the best for me. No pressure signs in my gun. Have not chronographed to verify FPS. As always use caution.
