Therein lies the problem.

And they produce nothing.

Of course the federal government is the top employer, millions on welfare depend upon them.

If you made the welfare and unemployment systems work like they are supposed to (hand up, not hand out) millions more would be working.

How many people on federal "disability" still hunt and fish and cut their own firewood and shovel snow and change tires?  Put them back to work too.

Once these millions of people are back in the work force earning a paycheck, they will want a lean mean government, but when you are on welfare and disability you don't care what your government does.  This is why us working folks can't make a change, we are the minority.

There could be some reductions in Federal employees, but that's really untrue to say they "produce nothing." For example, my highly educated wife is a VA physician and takes very good care of a lot of sick vets. Just the other day, she came home and told me how something just didn't seem right about a patient's test results even though it wasn't obvious. She ordered some further tests and found his lungs were full of blood clots. He was a time bomb waiting to go off. When he was discharged, this particular veteran came by to thank her and told her that his grandsons were coming to visit that week. My dad a veteran and former civilian Federal employee for the Air Force was a decorated pilot in Vietnam and did significant work with Lockheed-Martin on the C130J avionics.

So please don't be that simplistic about it. What about the folks who serve in the military or the people at USGS who have mapped this country and did most of the groundwork to make sure you can use your GPS when you're out hunting, or the guys who forecast the weather? They do a pretty good job. Most of the excessive spending and taxation is for three things: The Social Security Ponzi scheme, Medicaid/Medicare and Defense. Before you blame Federal employees take a good hard look at the people we have elected to make the spending decisions in this country. And take a good hard look at whether you or someone you know is willing to cut those three things down to size.
Reaction time is a factor...
