Welcome to OT,CC.
Your Charles Daly is the same action as the Mark X and Remington 798.
There are other brands if you'd like to check them out. I know Warne offers them.
As far as ring choices go that's going to depend on the scope you plan on using (objective diameter).

I'd go with Talley lightweight ringmounts I have several sets and they have been awesome. I like a ring that has 4 screws. I would also get a Warne Torque Wrench to tighten the screws so as not to over tighten them.

CC,I don't know what to tell you except that the 798 Remington use to be the Charles Daly 98 Mauser manufactured by Zastava. I know of no 98 Mauser that takes a #35 base, front or back. Maybe you can contact where you got that item # and ask. I'll do some more checking though.

I called Brownells and he is what I was told.
35 Front base is 1.290" Dia. .127 High
20A Front base is 1.360" Dia. .147 High
I'm going to check the dia on my receiver. Maybe Remington made a change in the specs?

Let me know what you find,CC. All of my catalogs, old and new, show 798's and Mark X's using 20A's. Maybe the Charles Daly was different than all the others and Remington standardized it when they took over.
