Ok a true brush gun that will shoot out to 500 yards or take game out to 500 yards?

We have a different opinion on a brush gun. What comes to mind for me on a longer ranged brush gun would be a Savage model 99 in 308. It's a lever gun but with a rotary mag for pointed bullets. They do not make them anymore, but if you can find one, they handles great and have a good feel for carry. And they have wood. Not great wood but wood. I had one and it shot as well as most bolt guns I owned.

Most of the land that I'm going to be hunting on next year will produce up to a 200 yard shot, but from the back porch to the woodline is 350-400, and there is an open field that deer move through to bed down, and its possible for up to 500. The real answer would be able to reach 500, but 95% of it will be 400-in. It needs to be light enough to move through the briar patches/creekbeds and across acres and acres of land, but have enough reach to hit that 400 yard mark, thats where my father in law came across that huge 12 point, which will still be here next year. Hopefully he will have put another point or two on.

He need to check out the Savage Arms website.  If he's set on wood the it's a classic or euro classic depending on wether he likes a raised comb on his stock.  With the right caliber any of those guns should get him out to 500 if he does his part right.
