Chris,

The specs on Sightron's website say "No" to "Target Knobs," but the photos all show adjustable tactical-style knobs.  I hope these have external tatical knobs.  Can you clear that up?

Also, the specs for the 3.5-10 list 120 for elevation range.  120 what?

Thanks,
-Matt

They are exposed turrets.

120 is moa although it adjust in mils.  I am sure they just copies over the spec table from another scope and did not catch those discrepancies but will soon.

That is a lot of adjustment.  Just when I thought for sure my next scope would be a Viper PST...

Now tell me a 4-16 SS is coming, and I'll really be pulling my hair out.

The days to come will be great for optics enthusiast as more and more manufacturers start to switch over to matching turrets and reticles.

This will be the norm instead of the exception very soon and we will look back and say, "Why was it ever done the other way!".

All of this competition will be great because it will drive prices down and make each manufacturer produce better products.

Win / Win for our customers.

Is it FFP? Looks like they're headed in the right direction although if the price is above $600 there's no advantage over the SS 3-9. With the PSTs you get zero-stop and illumination, although not ideal magnification ranges.
Reaction time is a factor...

I like my Big Sky Sightron and would like to see the SIII series, but with their magnification ranges it is an all or nothing deal.  A 4-16 would fit into that group real nice.

Agree Chris, this is great for the consumer.  Thanks for keeping us up to speed.

How does the glass in these compare with the SS HD? I assume its better than bushnell 4200s and viper psts.

I wouldn't assume that, but I think they would be worth a look.

I am excited to see the new generation of Sightron tactical scopes. Years ago I did a review of one of their scopes and while the review wasn't totally positive, I really liked the scope.

The review still lives over at sniper country for those really bored souls.

+1

The change we are seeing to MIL/MIL and MOA/MOA reticles and turrets are a big deal and something I have been hoping to see for a long time but more good FFP options is the next big gap that needs to be filled IMO.

A wise decision choice with 3x and 4x mag adjustment would minimize the issues with FFP reticles being too thin or thick and would still allow for a wide range of use in the field.  A 4-12, 5-15, or 4-16 would be ideal IMO.  These options allow for the wide field of view needed for close range tracking and even 1000 yard shots can fairly easily be made on everything but the smallest targets with 12-16x on the high end.  The FFP has a lot of room to grow in this country once guys realized the versatility.

Any idea when they will be available to order from dealers?  Interested in the SIII 3.5-10x44 LR IRMOA or SIII 3.5-10x44 LR MD/CM.

Sightron said 60-90 days at the earliest for the scopes to be in dealer hands.

Should I cancel my Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 FFP on order and get in line for a Sightron SIII 3.5-10x44 LR IRMOA or MD/CD????
