Looking to replace my 4x Leupold on my Marlin 45-70.  Don't care for the FX2 glass and 4x is just to much mag for my wants all the time.

I want a scope with the objective the same size as the tube.  I want a variable 1ish to 4ish-5ish.  I want something with 4ish inches of eye relief.  Under $600.  Something with a bold reticle.  Ill does not matter either way to me.

As of right now, the most fitting scope I can think of is the Leupold VX3 1.5-5x with bold dupelx.

What other options can you guys think of.

Thanks

Wow, so what make the 30mm African cost nearly 3 times the 1" version?

I definitely want the SS, just not for my 45-70.  Don't need the big knobs for a close range hunting gun.

The 4200 would be perfect, if it were not for the eye relief.  By the time I put a butler creek cap on it will be under 3 inches.  Not enough on a heavy kicker.

The minox looks nice, but it has the flared objective, so does not fit in my list of wants.  Plus it has more magnification than I want.  To much will make me want to shoot the 45-70 father than I should.  Bucky
