So I just picked up a DPMS Low Pro Classic and I'm looking to get some glass on it. I'd like to keep it fairly compact, but still have some magnification. I think I've narrowed my search down a little bit but i would like to get some input from you all. Suggestions or real world experience would be great. The three I am currently looking at are:

Burris 3-9X40 Fullfield II (electro-dot reticle)
Burris 2-7X35 Fullfield Tactical (Ballistic plex reticle)
Vortex Viper 2-7X32 (versa-plex C3 reticle)

So what do you guys think of these three? Who has the best bang for the buck?

I have a couple other scopes with illuminated reticles and I really like them, so I'm leaning toward the Burris with the electro-dot. But if it's not up to par, the illumination isn't a big deal.

Thanks for the help.

What distances will you be shooting and what will you use this gun for?

Distances will be 100-250 yards. It will be used for paper punching and coyote hunting primarily. I know I'm going to get some recommendations for 1-4's, but I'd like a little more magnification than that.

I would also recommend a 1-4, but if you are set on a 2-7, the Viper is the best optically and the c3 reticle would serve your needs well.

Wait for the SWFA 1-4 SS thats coming out.  True 1x variable is the only way to fly on ARs ... unless its a Varmint rig to reach out there to 500 or so for P Dogs.  With that in mind - im biased and will never be comfortable with optic on an AR that are not "fast" ...   If you won't consider that then go with the SS 3-9 FFP.

Am i pushing the SS line just because this is a SWFA site and I wanna score points with Chris and the crew?  NOPE ... the new SS FFP and HD scopes are the great optics for the price point.  I have very few rifles that don't run FFP optics as I prefer the simplicity they offer.  I also think owning a scope that doesn't have a reticle that matches the turrents makes no sense.  In the sub $2k FFP Mil/Mil world the SS 3-9 FFP is the only option in my opinion.  If I could afford it I would have USO glass on all my rifles ... but I can't ... so when they don't get USO they get a SS.

In the price range that the scopes you have listed, the Viper is going to be hard to beat. I like the C-3 it is quick to aquire the target. This would be a good choice.Wink
