I have a Savage 10 in short action, I also have a Stevens Model 200 in
Long action. I got a new scope for the SA and moved the old scope to
the LA. It feels almost like the scope is having the bells crushed by
the mounts on the LA with the body tubes just not giving the space
between the rings to mount properly. Enough so, you have no front to
back movement to adjust eye relief. It is what it is.
Are there scopes out there built for LA bolts for this reason? |

Savage long actions are fairly wide, Bushnell 4200 scopes tend to be alittle longer than the norm and I'm sure there are others. |

There are rail type bases for LA receivers which for the cost of asthetics give you more adjustment.

leaning on going that way. Unfortunately, with a blind magazine action, it blocks a bit of the action. When you start adding in gloves and such, the encumbrance becomes an issue.

Savage long actions are long. They could handle H&H length cartridges.

Depending on intended use, another option would be some of the higher powered variables, which in many cases have longer tubes.

This particular rifle is currently a .30-06. I intend to swap barrels to a .280 Rem. The comment of the "action being long enough for an H&H" has peaked an interest to see if it can be chambered into a .338 lapua as well. I suspect a bolt face would be in order at that point as well. |

You might look at the Burris XT 2-piece bases.

thanks all for the feed back.
The Burris XT bases seem to be the best option so far. |

Zeiss Conquest scopes are longer than most in the same power range and fit nicely on a long action.
