I have always used the RCBS lube when reloading. I have been using it since the mid 70s and I have never realy liked how it leaves the shells so sticky. I am almost out and need to get something. So the question is has anything better come out over the years?

One advantage to rcbs lube is that on select fire weapons you will always get an extraction. The disadvantage, besides the one you point out, is the case will always be forced back against the bolt face before it has time to expand and "seal" in the chamber. While usually not thought of much in bolts, this problem becomes more important with cetme type weapons. Many things will work, anything from lanolin to stp, but more than likely your using too much on the pad, use a hair dryer and drive it into the pad. Hornady One shot works great also If your not shooting max. loads, a dry mist off WD40 will work, only neck sizing or partial resize also works great .

I like the Hornady one shot as well.  This last time I tried to save a couple of bucks and got the cabelas case lube spray which consists of lanolin and alcohol.  Now I wish I had spent the couple of bucks more for the Hornady.

I use the lee lube, mix it with some alcohol and put in a spray bottle.  Never had an issue with it and as long as you use it sparingly very minimal residue to condend with.

+3 for Hornady Unique.  A tub of that should last you for years.  I've loaded several thousand rounds of .223 and have hardly put a dent in my tub.

+4 for Horniday Unique.  Its like a small butter dish you open it tap a finger on the lube and rub it on the middle of the case working the case around in your fingers as you put it in the press. Just a tiny bit will do you. I have also used the One Shot and find it better for small cases like .223 but not acceptable for larger cases like the 30 cal stuff. The Unique is a hundred times better than the old RCBS pad and clear grease that builds up and dents cases.

Dented cases are due do trapped air, because of dirty dies, clean with swab and spray with carb. cleaner. Any finger method is far to slow with progressive loaders.
Dillon's spray is about the best.

I use both as well.  The imperial wax is like Brylcreem, just a dab will do ya.  One Shot is nice due to it don't leave a lot of film on the case.

A very sparing amount of Imperial has worked well for me, as well as keeping the dies cleaned. I'm still on my original tin and at this rate would seem to have thousands of rounds left to handload before it needs replacing.

+1 on the Dillon spay lube. I do most loading on a progressive and it works great, easy to clean off too. I run my loaded rounds in a vibrating case cleaner (and no it's not dangerous) for about 30+ minutes.
Follow the directions and you should be ok.

Well it looks like I asked before I looked. RCBS has changed the formula. Now called Case Lube 2
from their ad (see below) it is now water soluble with no sticky residue. Of course it can't be used on the same pad.

RCBS Case Lube-2 is an ideal lubricant for reloaders who prefer to use a lube pad or lube die for lubricating cases before resizing them.

Technical Information:

Material: Water Soluble, Non-toxic
Quantity: 2 oz Liquid
Container:Plastic Squeeze Bottle
Features: No sticky residue
Notes: Will not harm powder or primers

Thanks for all the other methods that can be used. It looks like some are much more expensive than others. Just more toys for the toy box. If this got to get a new pad to.

+1 for Dale Clifford.

I do a very light WD-40 wipe-off of the cases, and then resize with Lee Collet dies.  It works just fine.
