Of these three scopes, Zeiss "Conquest" 4.4-14x50...Leupold "Mark 4" 4.5-14x50....Leupold "LPS" 3.5-14x50, which is the all around best?  I'm interested in optic quality/brightness, and repeatability.  They are all in the price range I'm considering.  Feel free to add any suggestions/recommendations.  I don't mind paying for quality, but I don't want to pay for just a name...

Savage Model 10, .22-250...long range varmint ('chucks), end of the day low light conditions...occasional Benchrest...sub-standard eyesight (mine, not the 'chuck's)...

I think all three would be great scopes.  Of the Leupold line I like the LPS just based on the fact that the magnification range goes a little lower, more versital if a close range shot presents itself.

That being said I'd take a Zeiss Conquest over a Leupold any day based on the Conquest's optical quality.  You would have to spend upwards to $1,000 to better a Conquest.  My personal opinion is that the Conquest line is a step up from a Leupold.

While it's been insinuated (sometimes rather strongly) that cheaptrick is a Leupold "Basher", I must give the devil his due here.

The Conquest beats the Mark 4 in optical dept., but the Mark 4 should be mentioned as well for it's W/E adjustments that are superior to the Conquest.

Not sure if your a hold over guy that likes a mil dot reticle or a "clicker" like me that likes to dial in my shots, but the Mark 4 is a really good choice for those of us that like to click.

There is no bigger fan of the Zeiss Conquest than me.

But I must say, I like them best for a big game hunting rifle and in 3-9 or 4.5-10 variety.

I also would look to the Nikon Tactical as well. Even though it may seem limited by it's lack of elevation adjustment, it can be easily compensated for by installing a 20 moa rail.

Just my take....... I hope all the Leupoldites are reading this!!

cheaptrick.......OUT!!

If at first you don't secede...try..try again.
