looking to get a new scope from swfa  i am looking at the weaver grand slam 3 by 10 by 40 or the leupold vxll 3 by 9 by 40 or vxlll 2.5 by 8 by 36.the scope will be used on a rem 243 for coyotes.i shoot alot at dusk.which one would be best for the money?are there any others i might be overlooking that would be better for the same amount of money ? also from the grand slam and leupold vxlll is the vxlll worth the extra money in terms of brightness and clarity at dark thirty?the vxlll is a little more then i was looking to spend but if it is better,i will spend that much.need help deciding!!thanks for your help,it is appreciated.

For the money, Grand Slam.

You're not just paying for the scope when you get the Leupold. I consider the Grand Slam to be one of the best bangs for the buck.

As far as brightness and clarity. I do not think VX-III is a significant improvement (if an improvement at all) over the Grand Slam.  You pay a lot for Leupold name.

Other scopes to consider are Sightron S2, Burris Signature Select, Nikon Monarch, Bushnell Elite 4200.  All have comparable models and all are good.  Personally, I like SIghtron scopes.  I think they are the best for the money (a toss up perhaps, between S2 and Grand Slam).  However, you can't really go wrong with any of these.
