I am looking for a high quality scope for under $400. i was looking at the Bushnell Elite 3200 4-12X40mm D.O.A. 600 rifle scope,is it worth the $350 bucks? Can any one recommend a better scope for the money? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Better scopes with those features? Here's two.
If your looking strictly for the best scope at $400 then this is it.

Work out the finer point's of your NEED. Is parallax adjustment important to you? If so, would you mind it being on the front bell, or do you prefer it to be a side or rear adjustment. How about eye-relief, I like alot of eye relief myself. I would say 3.5" is a minimum amount, thats just me. Reticle choices are like soda... everyone has their favorite. I like the idea of a BDC reticle, but if the model you love doesnt have the exact reticle you prefer, see if there is something you can live with in there line. Internal adjustment is pretty important as SVT_Tactical pointed out to me, if your going to shoot regularly out past 600 yards, you may need more than 50 MOA worth of adjustment, 25 up/25 down.
Good luck to you!
Robert.

Assuming you need a scope for big game hunting, one of these should work:

6531AOT,
I find it difficult to justify purchasing something under a 6500 Bushnell unless it is a 4-16X World Class Tasco. I would put them up against the others and doubt if you could tell the difference if the brand names were covered. For many years I had one on the .375-.416 Rem and still have one on the .340 Weatherby. I ordered a 2 1/2-16X50 for the .375-.416 because of its constant 4" of eye relief. A fellow at the range got hit when he fired it when it had the Tasco. My son-in-law has one on his 7 Rem Mag and I think he has a 6-24 Tasco on his 7 RUM.
Of course if you just want to spend money, maybe you can find a more expencive used scope in your price range. I have a 12-42X56 NightForce for sell for $1000.

stickbow46,
Sorry I am not clear enough. I dont' think you understood what I said. Often I tell my wife I have trouble communicating.
Take a look at the price of the two you mentioned. The Tasco is a fraction of the cost and yet is a very good value. They have stood up to the recoil of my .375-.416 Rem and the recoil of the .340 Weatherby for years.
There is no way a Tasco comprares favorably with my NightForce, but I bet my NIghtForce is better than a Conquest. I don't know if Conquest comes in as broad a range as I want. If I was going to spend low dollars on a scope I certainly wouldn't purchase a Conquest. It is not as versitile as my 4 1/2-30X50 Bushnell and cost way more than a Tasco. Therefore I would go for a 4-16X Tasco for anything less than a 6500 Bushnell.
I hope that is more clear.

Everyone's mileage is different. You have the best luck with Tasco scopes (current production, I presume, since in the past Tasco made some decent scope, but it has been a while) of anyone I have ever seen. To be blunt: of the currently produced Tasco scopes, I would not take one if it was free. There are all sorts of scopes priced below Elite 6500 that are very much worth the money. In my opinion, Tasco is not one of them (unless they went through some serious changes in a few months that I have not seen them). ILya

Your Tasco withstood those? I have blown out any Tasco I have ever owned. One on my 300 WM and one on my 270 which is much less recoil than the guns you mention. Even ruined a friends that said it would withstand anything I put it on. Another one gone on the 300. I wouldn't personally ever buy another Tasco.
