I have not run them side by side, but have played with both at different times (not very extensively, unfortunately).
I recall liking the Zeiss a little more at low magnification: FOV was a little wider and the view was a touch more "relaxed", for lack of a better word. I think Zeiss was a bit lighter as well. Both had excellent reticle illumination. You should probably add Swaro Z6 1.7-10x42 with illuminated reticle to your options as well. It is very good at low magnification and gives you a bit more reach. ILya
