Does anyone else think SWFA shipping fees are too high? or is Is it just me.

Flat rate USPS shipping boxes ( the right size to ship  rifle scope $4.95 to $9.00)
my UPS shipping from SWFA was almost $18.00.
I FEEL RIPPED OFF!

Whatever  Here we go again.

The OT rules that you just agreed to when you registerd.

1.  Keep it clean.  If you have to ask your self whether or not it's clean.........don't post it.  This includes images too, no blood, guts, nudity, etc.  Only respectful "Hero Shots" of harvested game can be posted.  Pictures of bloody game, game hanging or game in the bed of pick-up truck are not respectable.

2.  No personal attacks.  If you think someone is an idiot, (chances are) everyone else does too.  No need to post it.

3.  Do not advertise other retailers selling the same or similar products as SWFA, this includes posting links to other retailers for products sold by SWFA.  SWFA does not provide this forum as a vehicle to redirect customers to our competition.

4.  No religious discussions or politics unless it relates to guns, optics, and or shooting.

5.  PM stands for Private Message.  Do not publicly share PM's without the consent of the sender.

6.  The Optics Talk forum is not to be used as a customer service tool for SWFA customers.  Tracking numbers, Order Status, Credit Card issues, etc. need to be directed to our Customer Service Professionals at 972-617-7056 from 8 a.m -5 p.m CDT or via e-mail at swfa@swfa.com.

7.  For Sale ads are to be placed in Member's Trading Post area only.  Read the For Sale Rules prior to selling.

8.  SWFA's OpticsTalk forum is a peaceful community of like minded shooting, hunting and outdoors enthusiasts.  Open minded, logical, rational debates are healthy and welcome.  Close minded, agenda pushing, strong handed debates (bordering on arguments) to prove one's position or point simply for the sake of winning or to gain some perceived power are not welcome.

If I can ask other members for their opinion on scopes, rings and your other products, why can't I ask for other members opinion on your shipping fees?

  First off WELCOME to OT,Clyde.

No problem asking for an opinion on something at all.  BUT if it's a customer service issue(such as a problem with a scope bought at SWFA or POSSIBLY a mistaken over charge on shipping)you should at least give SWFA the chance to explain before putting the issue on an open forum. Have you contacted SWFA about this?

OK, I DO NOT   find the shipping fees excessive.  SWFA 1) insures shipping, 2) at least in every shipment I have had, includes RETURN SHIPPING labels.
I APPRECIATE the EXTRA EFFORT.
There are some companies who. if there is a problem, just ignore you. SWFA does NOT ignore you, but goes out of the way to make sure you 1) get what you paid for, 2) are "happy" with what you got.
SWFA gives better prices than ANYONE ELSE in the market, with SUPERIOR customer service, in a TIMELY manner.
You want less, you can get it, easily...

NO QUICK EXIT!  I was at work (in the shipping dept) and only log on during break!

My point is that I could ship the same item with insurance for less than 1/2 what I paid SWFA.
I ship 50 to 100 pkgs per week, so my opinion comes from shipping cost experience.
As for the web site cost, it's just another cost of doing business from other than a brick and mortar store.
A web site divides it's cost over several customers and is a lot cheaper than property taxes, rent, insurance, hourly employees  etc associated with a brick and mortar store.

One thing you failed to factor into your shipping cost of the items you ship for compay X is the salary that you take home every week which in light of that you can realize that SWFA has to pay an employee to box the item up and address it and get it shipped -  DUH the same thing you are getting paid to do --  sorry but you simply may not be bright enough to hang with this crowd.
The only time I felt overcharged on SWFA's shipping was my error when I selected overnight on a package by mistake on the electronic form - not their fault.  I find their pricing quite reasonable.

As far as shipping costs go you only see what the carrier charges you to ship.  This cost is highly negotiable and does not include teh cost of boxes and packing materials and labor.  I too ship things from tiime to time for Black & Decker and I just shipped a 37lb box UPS Grd and it only cost us $14.06.  The higher the volume shipped to steeper the shipping discount that can be negotiated!
