i see on the site that some of the scopes with the v-plex reticle are on closeout, can anyone tell me if that means that they are not going to make that scope anymore or if they are just changing the reticle, and if so is the new one going to be about the same price as the dead hold bdc scopes?

The Viper line is being revamped a little to make a clear separation between the tactical and hunting models.

Viper PST (Precision Shooting Tactical)

Viper HS (Hunting Shooting)

The new Viper HS models will include:

1-4x24 - TMCQ Illuminated Reticle (MOA)

2.5-10x44 - V-Plex Reticle, Dead Hold BDC Reticle (MOA)

4-16x44 - V-Plex Reticle, Dead Hold BDC Reticle, Dead Hold BDC Long Range Reticle (MOA)

4-16x50 - V-Plex Reticle, Dead Hold BDC Reticle, Dead Hold BDC Long Range Reticle (MOA)

These will just be named Viper:

6.5-20x44 PA Mil-Dot (MOA)
6.5-20x44 PA Dead Hold BDC (MOA)
6.5-20x50 PA V-Plex (MOA)
6.5-20x50 PA Mil-Dot (MOA)
6.5-20x50 PA Dead Hold BDC (MOA)

It appears that all other Vipers will not make the cut for next year.

Nice, 4-16s are a much better choice than the 4-12x IMO

Excellent THANKS,Chris!!  That 1-4x24 configuration interests me.  Still glad I bought my 2-7 C3 Viper even if it wasn't at the close out price.

These are interesting changes to the Viper line.  We'll know if the glass is the same or better next year I suppose.  Personally, I like the glass quality in the Viper and if the glass ends up no worse and the configurations are more flexible, I think it is a worthy upgrade to the line.

On a separate note: Earl, check out the new Leupold VX-R 2-7x33. I may have to revisit my tweener scope write-up...

Any chance of a closeout sale on the 3-9x40 if it's also going away?
