Took the chainsaw out and helped a guy cut firewood. We cut seven cord in five and a half hours with two saws. He has a Husq 455 Rancher, and I have my Stihl MS 260 Pro. Both of us were running 20 in bars and 3/8" chains. Both cut like a dream. Mine kept up with his even though it is a smaller saw. I am really happy with my saw. Cuts like a dream even with the 20 in bar, which a lot of people said not to do. I never had one problem at all. Even on full bar cuts, it cut better than I thought it would.

So if you cut that pile before noon , would that make it "morning wood"? |

Mostly pine. Some spruce. We don't really have or burn much hardwood up here. What we cut will last all winter this year and some next year depending on how cold we get this year. |

I've never used a Husqvarna, but every Stihl chainsaw I've used has run well and been very dependable and durable. There's nothing worse than using a tool that works against you rather than with you.

... but prefer to burn oak at home. Every spring we find ourselves removing trees that fall onto the roads (during the winter months) where we hunt. We don't burn that often due to the mild winters so we don't need much. Edited by mike650 - October/17/2010 at 13:36 |

Mike, the MS 260 Pro is a great saw. I wanted it for the power to weight ratio, and I think it does great with the 20 in bar. I could see in hardwood where you might want a shorter bar, but to me it really comes down to how sharp you keep the chain.
I know that the 260 will do all I want with it for the amount I use it, and do it reliably every time. The 361 is a great saw as well.

I got the Husky Rancher 455 too. It's a really good saw and was given to me as a gift from a dear friend, but my next saw will be a Stihl.
My 455 leaks bar oil like hell! I have never figured out why either.

husky and jonserud both leak bar oil, a stihl will burn two tanks of gas to a tank of bar oil.

Mine and a couple of friends leak oil just sitting around. It's not coming from cap either. MAkes a damn mess, I do know that.

That is true. I was amazed though at how little fuel I used in all that cutting.
