I have a Remington Model 700 30-06 and what is a good, not too expensive scope to purchase for this gun.  Where I hunt whitetail, the longest shot I can possibly get off is about 100 yrds.  Please help me out.  Thanks.

You wouldn't need much power. With that money saved you could upgrade your optics

Leupold 2.5-8x36 VX-III

Burris FFII 3-9x40

Sightron 3-9x42 SII

We can get the Sightron for $183.00 if you're interested.

Diffrent gun, same type of hunting though . . . I am leaning toward going for the best scope I can get for the money . . . IOR 4x32.

I like the IOR fixed scopes. They are indeed a lot of scope for the money, and more scope than most of us whitetail hunters here in the East ever need.

I like Brady's suggestion and prefer a variable hunting scope because my rifles shoot a lot of paper when deer season is over and the extra magnifaction is nice at the range. My .02

If at first you don't secede...try..try again.
