Looking to upgrade my scope on the 270, I have a Nikon Monarch on my 223 and love it but need to save money on this one. So I am looking for a 3-9x40 or more so a 3-9x50 that will do the trick and not break the bank any suggestions.

Looking to spend around 200 but under stand that I will go over, the Nikon Prostaff 3-9x50 seems like a decent deal......

+1 !!!!

OR

I just purchased the 4-12x40 myself and its a GOOD clear scope. I only got to play with it for a few boxes as my shoulder went out shooting my 30-06 Mossberg. I had to send the mossberg back to get some trigger work as I had a 6.5lb pull!!! You won't find a better scope for the money!! I have a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 on my Browning .270 and this Viper does compare with it. I'll give the edge to the Zeiss..but its also $160 more---Bboy623
I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6!

+ 1 on the vortex suggestion, a good deal. If you are really on a budget, I might suggest the pentax pioneer that is on sale. The 3-9x40 is $109 . I bought one of the 4.5-14x42 for my 223 and am very happy with it, a lot of scope for the $$. These are apparently rebadged fullfield II's built by Burris for Pentax. I am fighting the urge to buy one of the 3-9x40's for my 308 which serves as a backup /deer camp loaner.

There are lots of great buys our right now.  The Vortex, probably the "fan" favorite.  There are also other great ones too.  Redfield, Bushnell Elite 3200 & 4200, Sightron Big Skys, several.  But bang for the buck vote is vortex.  Ironclad warranty and exceptional glass.

I still haven't heard a good argument as to why people don't like thet 270 win. I've heard a lack of different bullet weights, but that can't be it.Big Smile
