Lets get people thoughts and experience on what is the most accurate off the shelf out of the box, factory produced rifles either a particular brand or maybe a particular model of a particular brand. The remington 700 BDL for example from remington for a specific model. Just for fun too which ones offer a great platform for a custom tack driver. Lets the debate begin.
In my opinion and from what I have heard from many other people, I would say savage makes on of the most accurat out of the box guns, and one that is easy to upgrade. I would say
1. Savage
2. TiKKa
Not sure about after that. I have actually heard that Weatherby rifles are some of the worst for accuracy.

Have had very good luck with my Weatherby rifles. Most are Vanguard (howa) models, but the one Mark V I have is a sub moa rifle all day easy. +1 on Savages being accurate though.

I have no experience with weatherby rifles I had just heard a few people who had shot some that were not very accurate compared to others. Probably got a lemon.

My Weatherby was a take driver. +1 on the Savage for the money though.

Remington 5R, though higher price tag, is highly recommended for "out of the box" accuracy...

I am a huge Tikka fan, mine have all been sub-MOA with good factory ammo.
I have no experience with Savage. The Remington 5Rs are fantastic. If you consider $$< hard to beat a Tikka T3. |

I think that they all can be accurate out the box. My recent remington and savage purchases have both been less than MOA out the box

I've also have had great luck with Savage, no problems with my Weatherby either. I think most rifles today are capable of 1.5" groups.

For an off the shelf mass produced long gun that won't break the bank... Savage just plain hard to compete with! All 4 of mine cost under $800 and are sub-MOA. Now thats math I don't have to take my shoes off for!

I can't tell you how many e-mails, letters, calls, and contest entries we receive in regards to "out of the box" Savage / SS combinations that are winning matches or outperforming someone else's high dollar rig.
We get so many that we started putting together turn key set ups that include a Savage rifle, SS scope, SS rings, Harris bipod and a fitted storm case. We offer these to police shooters that have to buy their own equipment and we also sell them on GunBroker.
Savage / SS......by far the best combo out there for the money.

Factory rifle accuracy is a crap shoot. Name any brand and model and there are some specimens out there that will be spooky accurate, others that won't shoot worth a crap. There is no rule of thumb with regards to factory rifle accuracy that always holds true. It's just the way it is in the realm of mass produced products selling at affordable prices.
Having said that, there are certain rifles that seem to have a higher % of tackdrivers than others. From my experience, the various heavy barreled Savages in "varmint" and mid-power calibers and Coopers have been the most consistently accurate out of the box factory rifles I've shot. I've also had great luck with Sakos and Tikkas, but others I've talked to evidently haven't had my string of luck with them. I used to be able to say that about heavy barreled Remington 700s, but I've seen enough turds from that series in the past 20 years that I don't know that I can say that for certain. When you find a good one, though, they can shoot with anything. For the most part -- from what I've seen -- you stand the best chance of getting a tackdriver with a heavy barreled bolt action .308, .204, or .22 centerfire of various persuasions over other types and chamberings. Of course, this doesn't always hold true, but I've seen a greater likelihood of getting a rifle that shoots with those calibers in heavy barreled variants.

I was looking for an answer about most acccurate rifle out of the box.
Wnah I see this post I have read a lot of ,mainly in USA forums, of course. I want to buy a remington m700 5r. In this link tell about 0,2 MOA accuracy out of the bos http://www.snipercountry.com/InReviews/Rem_M700_StainlessSpecial5RMilspec.asp If I buy a DSR-1 ,that shoots at 0,2 MOA for 6500€ or a Blaser 93 that shoot at 1/4 MOA If I can take a rem 700 5R for X € (I think it costs 1500€ here) in Spain. I prefer this one Which shoots more accurate the Savage SS or the 5R? thanks for the answers and forgive my grammar |

If i was getting a 308 for ultimate accuracy i'd get the 5R, better platform to work of if needed, more aftermarket stuff. |
