Hey guys, I finally got my .308 Savage set up the way I wanted it. I am a Savage guy so this is my new addition to the horde Wink

This one is a LE model, precision carbine with 20" barrel, 10 twist. The accutrigger is set to break cleanly at just a bit over a poundYippee. I topped it off with 10x42 SWFA SS side focus and Farrell mounts and rings.

I gotta tell ya, I don't know how SWFA manages to keep the SS prices down, but this scope is one of the best in my book and for a fraction of the cost from what I'd have to pay for Zeiss or S&B. I am lefty so I got this LH stock pouch/riser with a pocket and 8 round ammo pouch. Harris bipod makes the whole platform stable.

What can I say, yes, there are better "tacticool" rigs, but this one will do everything I want it to - hunting and paper punching out to 600 yards. And all that pleasure is for a fraction of the cost of a brand new M40. Now, all I have to do is to order some Match grade ammo for it and head for the range...

VYD, your next purchase should be some reloading equipment.  Then you can really let that bad boy shine.   Good looking stick.   Thunbs Up

Thanks all,

I am not so sure about reloading stuff...I doubt I will have time for it, besides, Match grade ammo cost the same as off-the shelf "regular" ammunition. I have just ordered some Black Hills Match, Federal SMK Match, and Hornady A-Max Match, all 168 gr.

Also, "reloading" sounds boring... Big Grin

That looks real nice.  Best part about reloading is match ammo costs about 1/4 of what new costs.
Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

I enjoy reloading almost as much as shooting.

Actually, quite relaxing... nothing like sitting down to the ole reloading bench with a good cigar...

VYD Why would you say not the best?
Properly sighted in with loads that work your Savage will shoot with the best of them,at half the cost.
I have several Savage rifles (9) and everyone of them is a sub MOA rifle, and were right out of the box.Reloading and load developement has made almost all .5moa@100.
Practice, shoot with confidence in your equipment and you will find you can compete with most anyone.

I hear ya, froggy Wink Well, I guess I just didn't want to look like a jerk claiming I have a super-dooper sniper rifle Cool Savage is my kinda gun but of course it is not an M40, M1A, or AI, or Sako Tactical...

And you are absolutely correct, Savage guns are great straight from the box and with a good ammo and  a skilled shooter they can print  .5 MOA groups at 100 yards all day long...

Thanks! Just got the shipment of Black Hills, Hornady, Federal, and Lapua Match grade ammo. Now the problem is to find a good spare day to spend at the range.
