I just received the subject scope for review and opened the box today.  My initial impressions are very positive.  I've not really done more than put the battery in, check out the lighted reticle, mechanically zero, and evaluate the "feel" of the clicks.  The scope has 165 total MOA in Elevation and 162.5 MOA in Azimuth/Windage.  That's a lot... The "clicks" are tactile and audible.  Very much so.  There is a very nice "feel" to the clicks and a distinctive click.  There is no "mushy" feel at either end of maximum extent.  Nice and crisp all the way to the final "click".  I've run it through 4 end-to-end and it really feels good.  The power adjustment ring is firm, but not too much so.
For a CQB scope, it is a bit long, but it does have the 1-4 power adjustment, which is in big demand.  The length, 10.2in, is definitely a detriment.  There is some "tunnel effect", noticeable, but not oppressive.  Overall, the glass is good.  The light transmission in the dark is very good and the lighted reticle is not overpowering like many are.  It is very good for night-time, urban and field operations.  I was able to pick out a target, ID it, and be ready to fire at slightly over 5000 ft with a "backlight".  At closer ranges, where it would actually be used, it is very fast for acquisition.
That is all I have for now.  As the days go by, and I get it mounted and get some use, I will have more on this.  I am anxious to actually evaluate the reticle and its ranging capabilities.
First impressions, without any more than "touchy/feely" use, it is a favorable scope in most respects. I keep going back to the length... Really needs to be shorter for the type of use it was intended for, I think.
More to come.  Its ability to withstand day-to-day use will be a big factor, but it certainly has a nice feel to it.  I'm thinking of trying one on my .458 Lott and/or .458 WinMag... something I had really not considered.  I'll try to take some pictures over the next few days.

I could not wait any longer for the Vortex Viper 1-4 HS so I ordered the Leatherwood 1-4x24 CMR for my newly built AR. I could not be happier!
Value: Ordered from SWFA on the promo with the included Burris P.E.P.R. mount  - great value.

Look and feel: right size and weight for a rifle set up for CQ- M.  The finish and detailing are not up to par with Leupold, Zeiss, S& B, etc. - but what is?

Performance. After boresighting I was on the paper and shooting 4 shot .75" groups in no time. From 1-4 the image is clear edge to edge and I was pleasantly surprised by the brightness which I did not expect from a compact scope with a 24mm tube. In broad daylight the lighted reticle is useless (as expected) but looks bright and crisp in dusk-like light. I might add that he reticles are laser etched onto the glass  which one might expect from a more pricey optic.

Overall: For under $400 this scope can't be beat. It fills the niche and budgets for shooters wanting better than NCStar, Barska, BSA feces but constrained from spending the big bucks on a CQ scope.  Mikey gives it 4.5 stars.  And, I am not a shill for Hi-Lux Leatherwood. I have always considered myself a Leupold bigot and recently discovered the virtues of the Vortex products.

I've not made it to the .458's with this scope yet, it is still on the .375 H&H.  I put on my .308 and zeroed, took a few shots at 25 and 50 meters.  All shots well under 1MOA.  Back on the .375.  It is holding up extremely well.  I have it zeroed for 250 meters which gives me great response out to 300m.  For the money, it is a real deal.  I do have to change zero going from .375 to .308 to .375.  I hope to get a chance to use it on one of the .458's before deer season.

Ok, I'm a couple weeks out and a few trips to the range past the initial post regarding the Leatherwood Hi Lux CMR 1-4x24. My opinions remain unchanged. This is a lot of scope for the money. I admit to feeling a bit hinky about buying a Chicom product and rationalized with Jim Leatherwood's name on the product. I have this scope mounted on my M4. After @ 400 rounds the scope still holds zero. None of the pieces have fallen off and sub-1" groups at 100 yds is the norm.
