Are these good rings? I have a Thompson Center Encore with a 270. barrel and a Muzzleloading barrel. I have one scope that I will switch between these two barrels. Are these Signature rings in weaver style going to match my weaver bases perfectly? Also their description states no moving parts. If I remove the scope from the black powder barrel for cleaning each time, will the scope return to zero like all weaver setups are designed to or are these rings made for a permanent fit on a weaver style base? If I dont get these rings, then what do you suggest for my setup? (nothing too expensive please)

I have used the Burris Signature Z Rings, with Warne steel Weaver type mounts, on three of my bolt action hunting rifles, in calibers .30-06, .300 Winchester Magnum, and .338 Winchester Magnum.
I deer, and bear hunt in the central USA, and also out west for mule deer and elk. These Burris Signature Rings, with the standard polymar inserts have performed really well for me. I know some other hunting friends of mine that use these also, and they never have complained about these type of Burris rings. I plan to stay with these on any future rifles I buy. I'm suprised that I don't hear much about the Signature Z Rings on shooting and hunting magazines and web sites. The Signature Z's are a great well thought out design. |

I forgot to mention in my reply above here, that I have removed the scopes from my rifles, with the Burris Signature Z rings still attached, and they have always returned to zero when I remount my scope to my mounts. I then go for shooting sessions off the bench at rifle ranges, and I still hold the same zero as I had before.
And yes also to using the Weaver made mounts on Burris Signature Z rings. They work fine together. Keep in mind the standard Weaver mounts are aluminum, and my Warne Weaver style mounts are steel. But the aluminum Weavers work great too. The Weaver Grand Slam mounts are steel, with the same standards as the aluminum Weavers. |
