I have a new CZ 452 varmit in 17hmr. I am going to get the weaver 3x9x32 rimfire scope but I am not sure about the rings. I assume medium rings will work? This will be my primary coon killer while I am in the stand waiting for hogs to show.

I recommend the Warne rimfire rings that fit the CZ rimfires (Part #721) available in matt, gloss or silver.
Plus: They fit both the American (3/8) and the European (11mm) dovetails found on the CZ452 line.
Minus: Only available in medium or high.

I have Talley mounts on several rifles and they are top notch. The lows might even work.

I just mounted a Weaver 2-7x on my CZ 452 with Warne mediums. Worked great!

I used to have a 453 Varmint and from experience I can tell you that the primary challenge is mounting the scope high enough for the bolt to clear the ocular bell. I used CZ mediums and they worked great.
BTW if you can find a Brooks Trigger kit for it you'd have a really sweet upgrade. They tend to be backordered for a lifetime or two but maybe you'll get lucky. Edited by sholling - July/15/2010 at 21:57 |

This is my first CZ and the trigger does need to be upgraded. That is next on my list. The guys at my local gun shop don't seem to know much about CZ rimfires. I am relying on these forums to steer me in the right direction. Thanks.

I did some searches and I'm not sure if brooks is still around. I've been away from CZs for a while no so if I were you I'd post a question about trigger jobs in the CZ forum on rimfirecentral. |

Ok, I've heard a little about the Yo Dave kits but haven't really looked into them yet.

Have you had a look at the Timney trigger(s) that fits the CZ rimfire line??? Just make sure you get the right model as the 2 are slightly different. Also, regarding info on CZ rimfires...do a search thru the "Firearms" section as there's been a few discussions on CZs in there in the last year...including from yours truely!

I ordered the weaver 3x9x32 today along with a Timney trigger. I'm ready to see how she shoots. Coons and Squirrels beware.

I REALLY considered getting that scope too, before I went with the 2-7x Weaver Rimfire.
Let us know how you make out with it.

I got my Varmit sighted in and WOW what a shooter. The weaver is reallly nice for a $200 scope and the timney trigger is great. The weaver fit perfect with the medium warne rings. I am very happy with how the whole setup turned out. At 50 yards it produced a small ragged hole and at 100 the groups only opened slightly. This was with a very strong crosswind so I'd say the theory about a 17hmr not handling wind very well is BS. I didn't shhot past 100 yards because I will mostly be using it inside 100 to hunt with although I would be comfortable taking shots to 150 or so. CZ has definately made me a fan. Thinking about a 22wmr next.

Don't know about the CZ-452 but the CZ-527's have a high bolt throw. Even with the high mounts my Nikon Monarch would not clear the bolt handle. Easy fix was to remove the handle and send it in to CZ. They modified it and mailed it back in with a 2-week turn around. The only cost incurred was me shipping the bolt handle to them. Doesn't get much better than that.

I've seen a lot of CZ452 Lux's with the rear sight removed but i've left mine on as the Weaver Classic Rimfire 4x28 i've put on my Lux, putting the scope on perfectly, the front of the scope is fortunately just behind the rear of the sight. If I had put a bigger scope on it I would of had to remove the rear sight.
