I was looking through the Sample List on this site and I saw a number of good deals on the Nikon Buckmaster scopes. I am looking for a 6-18X40 scope.  Is the Buckmaster a good scope for the money?  Is it reliable (ie. does it hold zero, and stand up to years of use?).  Now I know that I am going to get a numer of responses that the Nikon Monarch is a better scope- - yes, I know this.  I know I can pay more money and get a number of better scopes.  However, it seems like for the price, the Buckmaster is a very good deal.  The 6-18 Buckmaster has features I like, such as target knobs and side focus.  What do you think?

I have a buddy that bought several of them for different rifles and he swears by them.  I think they are pretty good scopes that tend to get over looked.  His are the older models, from what I have read Nikon has increased the light transmition in the newer models.

Most of the prices I have seen put the Buckmaster in or around the same price as the Burris Full Field.  Again, personal opinion but given the choice I'd lean more to the Burris.

I think the Nikon BM is a steal!!

King of the lower priced scope market...IMO.

Here's a good review of the BM from Nate. A No BS look at the Buck Master.

Does anyone know how the sunshade fits on the Buckmaster, since it has rounded edges?  I presume you would have to unscrew the front rounded edge of the scope and then install the sunshade.
