I was going to say zero to 1000, buy hey what is 700 more yards.  Thunbs Up

But seriously there is really no defined distance for a magnification range.  Some people would be comfortable and capable of using a 2-7x scope for all there big game hunting purposes out to 400 to 500 yards.  Other may want more.  I use 3-9x scopes on all my big game hunting rifles and very seldom use them about 6 or 7x even when I shoot 2 to 300 yards.  Its just all a matter or preference.

We get asked that question all the time in regards to binoculars and it is hard to answer without coming off as a smart-alec.
