I'm in the market for a new scope for my AR... it will primarily be used for hunting coyotes at night (full moon over snow)  I was looking hard at the Trijicon 3-9x40 with the green mil-dot crosshair, but the Meopta Meopro has caught my attention as well.  I'm having a hard time justifying spending an extra $275.00 for a green dot when I could use the cash for another upper?  I read the review of the Meopta on this site and it looked very favorable.  Anyone else have the chance to pick one of these up and give them a look?  I'm thinking the #4 reticle for my application.

My opinion...  If you are hunting at night, even with a full moon, a good illuminated reticle, while not required, is very beneficial, as long as the illumination system is well designed so that it doesn't over-illuminate.  The Trijicon has a very good, foolproof illumination system.

I'm sure the Meopro is a nice scope, but if it were me, I'd get the lit reticle.  It may seem like a large premium added for illumination, but over many years of use, the benefits would far outweigh the additional cost for me.

Full moon over snow is not especially dark, so reticle visibility is unlikely to be an issue.

However, for quick reticle AND target acquisition, Trijicon's illuminated reticle is worth the money.

great advice on illuminated retical for nighttime hunting,in most cases you won't have that perfect setup. full moon and snow covered conditions just don't happen that often,at least up here in michigan. trijicon 3x9x40 would be great choice.

Love my 3-9x40 Trijicon Accupoint, probably the best all around hunting scope on the market.

I also like the Accupoint 3-9 X 40 with the green triangle. The ER (3.6-3.2) could be better IMO.
