Dang that's even more reason to get together!  I want to learn how to properly process deer and the like!  Around here it's between $75 and $150 to have a butcher process your animal and you almost always don't get your animal back, just its equivalent weight!  For deer thats probably not too bad except for the backstrap tenderloins.  It sucks when you deliver a field raised sweetened steer and get back equivalent weight of some old tuff end of life steer in return!

That will only happen once to me!  Never again!

I'm just glad no one was hurt. I hope it doesn't affect the livelihoods of the folks who work for the company. I know their NW sales rep and he's a really nice guy. It's good their short-term inventory was in another building. Maybe that will get them through the next few months. I happened to have layed in my own "inventory" of Accubonds but that was only because the .308 165 gr. is my standard bullet and I wanted them all from the same lot. But even so, I'll probably limit shooting those up and get rid of some other bullets I have lying around - the fun way of course, on the range!

Bud, if you have the time and desire, I encourage you to do your own processing. It's really not that bad once you get a good idea of where to cut. For larger deer and for any elk, I field debone and that results in getting the meat cut into "primals" (butcher speak for the main sections of meat). A couple friends of mine will even freeze those and work on them as time allows. I try to get it all done in a day or two. I recommend a video on field deboning and if you could find one on butchering. Those charts showing primals are about as useful as if I gave you a sketch of one side of a building and asked you to build the whole thing.

The first time or two, it's hard to do the best job but after a couple animals it gets much easier. And you get the satisfaction of getting all the meat (including more trimmings) and knowing it didn't get mixed in with something else or mishandled.

I've used other bullets but I will also vouch for the terminal performance and far less wasted meat when using Accubonds. Again, I wish Nosler success in quickly getting back on their feet.
Reaction time is a factor...
