I recently purchased a Remington 700 7mm Mag and have been reading the forum to find a good scope. The gun will be used primarily for deer hunting at distances within 350 yards. I am looking to spend no more than $300 and have narrowed it down to a few candidates. My biggest concern is having enough eye relief to handle the Magnum and avoid the large ring on my forehead weeks after deer season.
I have heard great things on this forum about the Grand Slam but also some talk that the eye relief might be a little short. Would the eye relief on the Grand Slam be a problem for me?
I am new to the world of optics and would really appreciate any expert advice I can get. Please let me know which of the following scopes would be the best buy for me and would provide adequate eye relief. Thanks.
1. Weaver Grand Slam 3-10x40 (eye relief is 3.5" to 3") 2. Nikon Monarch UCC 3-9x40 (eye relief of 3.7" to 3.6") 3. Sightron SII 3-9x42 (eye relief 4.2" to 3.6") 4. Burris FullField II 3-9x40 (eye relief 3.8"-3.1") 5. Leupold VXII 3-9X40 (eye relief of 4.7" to 3.7")

Any of the scopes you are looking at would be fine.

I've looked through all except the Sightron, and with eye relief in mind and overall quality. It's hard to pass up that Monarch. |

Thank you all for the input. I have looked through the Monarch as well and was very impressed with the glass and it is great to know that the eye relief shouldn't be a problem. I have found it listed on the Optics Zone website for $259. Please let me know if you think that there is a better place to order from, if not I will likely get it from there. Thanks again, now I am even more pumped up for whitetail season.

How about SWFA, the people who host this website. I wouldn't go around mentioning the Optic Zone on this site. They are sore losers in the game of business.

Thanks a lot for suggesting SWFA. They honored the 110% Low Price Guarantee without any questions and gave me a great deal on the Monarch (plus free shipping). Can't wait to get this on the gun. You all have been a huge help. |
