I'm looking at a used Swarovski scope to buy. The only question I had is this: On the top of the eye piece, it reads: 3-10x42 A. What does the A stand for? Does is stand for American? Or what? Any other cautions I should have? The scope is a Swaro AV 3-10x42 with TDS reticle. Thanks!

Yes, the "A" stands for "American." "AV" = "American Variable." I have the 3-10X42 AV (but not with TDS), and I have been very happy with mine ever since I bought it 10 years ago. I can't think of anything you should be cautious about, as it's a great scope. I've heard some say that Swaro doesn't recommend using any of the AV scopes on really hard kicking rifles. I haven't personally heard that from them and can't verify that myself. Nevertheless, if you plan on mounting it on a heavy recoiling rifle, it wouldn't hurt to call S.O.N.A. and ask them about this.
