The only mention I've found on a search is this http://opticstalk.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=22153&KW=Zeiss+Victory+RF+10+x45&PID=284587#284587
Maybe ILya can stop by this thread with some more input. Doug |

If your manual says 1200 meters I would say it should be 1200 meters (minimum). With that said, I have a Leica CRF1200 that the manual says is 1200 yards but I've ranged things up to 1300+ yards. On an extremely hot days (95+ in the afternoon where we hunt) I sometimes have problems ranging things over 900 yards. I'm sure you'll find the same thing with Zeiss and Swaro RF's. Have fun with your new toy!!! |

The figures in laser rangefinder manuals are very approximate. The actual ranging ability is strongly dependent on air quality and target type. In some cases you are below the advertised value and in others above. It really goes on a case-by-case basis.

Adding to air temp during the day (for me long distances on extremely
hot days), and what ILya mentioned air quality/target type, some find
target color (black for instance) can possibly limit one's ranging
abilities. A steady hand helps too.
