What would you choose if we were allowed to own only one rifle? I think I would opt for a Remington 700 in 30 06 because IMHO, it would be enough gun for most game in North America and ammo and replacement rifle parts are readily available. What do you think? Sam

Sam's choice is also mine. There is ammo and components galore, as well as M700 parts.

I also would chose something utilizing the .308 bullet, be it non-magnum or magnum.

If only one gun and this current political world-- I would suspect it would have to be a bolt gun or lever action by decree... I would go with a 30-06 Wby Vanguard stainless..They all shoot very well and parts are no worry ..

I would say an AR10 variant, but in truth, I have yet to use one that is as accurate as a good bolt gun. If I could find one, that would be it. Until i find that gun, I'll take my 40X (308) and consider myself fairly well prepared for anything but an army of zombies (not the ones from Dawn of the Dead, I'd be OK with those, but the ones from 28 Days Later, I'd be screwed) or a charging heard of lemmings. Against all else, I'd be good to go.
