Where does the Mark AR series fit into the Leupold lineup of riflescopes? What are they the tactical version equivalent of, VX1, VX2 or VX3? I'm trying to get an idea of their quality. Thanks.

How do these compare to a Nightforce 1-4?

The Nightforce will be better and cost a lot more. Is it worth the difference - that depends on how badly you need top of the line. To me I would rather have the Trijicon 1-4 but I think I could be happy wiht any of them. I do like the reticle in the Leupold they put a lot of thought into it.

the nf is a true 1x on the low end, the leo is 1.5, the leo comes with a bullet drop elevation knobs for 223 or 308, with zero stop built in, nf will cost you another 100 for zero stop. the zero stop on the nf is very heavy duty. nf comes with more reticle choices,

I'm a fan of Leupolds SPR reticle that's on the Mk IV. Other than the illum not being very bright in the day time (much like me) but it's a good choice for shooting most things that need shot. Now the Mark AR series...I do not care for and there are better options for the coin that's being asked IMO. Which series are you posting about cuz the title of your thread says Mk IV but your opening post is about the Mark AR series?
