Have any of you color blind guys had better success with circle dot, t dot ect. I’m getting a new AR soon and am looking for an optic that I can see better. Any help appreciated.

How well can you see yellow?  Trijicon has a yellow post that may work.

Red, green, yellow all give me problems. If I pick a different color of the bulls eye on my targets I can distinguish the difference. But in a real life stress situation I worry that it might be a problem. I see some blue dots that might work but not sure of the quality of the manufacturers. Looking for opinions from other color blind guy's if the circle or t dot helped. Thanks for the quick replies!!

That is odd. I too am colorblind, and have never had a problem picking up a red dot. I seem to only have a problem with light shades though. Light pinks, and very pale greens are my problem. Is this normal, or is my colorblindness just very slight?

I have some problems with colors like red, green, and orange but tend to see blue very well. I can also see better in low light than most. I would like to see some of the reputable companies make a blue dot, but i guess they figure if you can't see that well you shouldn't be in combat situations

Look at a red light. Have a friend put a red lens on a flashlight. If you see it as a light source instead of as a color, then there should be no problems.

Most color blind folks that I know know the light by the position that lit up and then again its not that they can't differentiate all the different colors they just show up in shades vs what we see, I think there are several different types of colorblindness.

SVT this is true bit with the newer traffic lights some are horizontal some are different spacing then with the ones with seperate arrows for turning, it has to make it awful hard.
I once worked with a guy who could not see colors period, he wasn't allowed a drivers license and it almost cost him his job as a firefighter.

I know the lights by position. You really get used to being colorblind, and after a while, it doesn't affect many things you do. I have sometimes found it to be an advantage in hunting situations. For me, deer really stick out against a green background. I've also found that camoflage seems to stand out rather than blend in...........??? Odd.

Exactly. With horizontal traffic lights they always put the red light on the left. I look for the position of the light (left, middle, right) (top, middle, bottom). When I have trouble is in rural areas with single blinking red or yellow lights. I watch to see what the other vehicles do.

The problem I have with optics is the red/green/yellow dots blend in with the background.

Cyborg,

Take a flash light and shine it against a house with white siding in the sunlight. That’s the type of problem I have with a dot sight in trees or grass.

Trigger29,

I do the same thing with some camo. I also notice while hunting that I pickup movement a lot quicker than others.

I feel a circle or T dot might be easier to pickup.  I need to just go to a gun shop and try some different options.

Got it....The solution for you will be a German #4 with illuminated Dot. There will be no problem seeing the dot without illumination, and when needed (Dark) it will stand out because of being a light source and not just a colored light.

I like that idea. I found this http://swfa.com/Burris-1-4x24-Euro-Diamond-30mm-Rifle-Scope-P7930.aspx or something similar might work well.

 Thanks for the suggestion cyborg!!
