On March 6, 1836 the siege of the Alamo ended with a third attack upon the chapel and grounds.  Many men died trying to fight for Liberty from the tyranny of the Mexican government.

Did the tour a few years ago... it's amazing how small a structure it really is/was.

Being a PROUD Texican, I've been to the Alamo a number of times.  I did my first research paper on it.  The Alamo, though a Texas monument, is a symbol of what the American story is all about.  It is a "moment in time" that highlights and displays all the best of America.
Most of the people who fought at the Alamo, weren't even from Texas...

Yep. There are plaques inside all over the walls with the names of the men who died there, and where they were from.....no photographs allowed inside the chapel.

It feels kind of "eerie" walking around in there, at least to me...

Definitely worth the visit.

I used to go to the 'Lupe river all the time. Lots of fond memories of the parties along the river. The Alamo is a wonderful testament to American resolve. It will not be our final stand, but the first of many hard fought battles that temper the steel of the American Patriot.

They did it hard back then when compared to what todays shooters are using.
