I’m in the market for a scope for my 223 model 700. The rifle will be used primarily for woodchuck and coyote hunting in both open and wooded areas. Shots will be between 100-300 yards. I’m thinking about getting decent glass with a 4a reticle. My thinking is, out to 200-300 yards this reticle shouldn’t obscure too much of a woodchuck and when going for a moving coyote the 4a should help me stay with him. What do you guys think?

Thanks,
Sam

4a reticle should be outstanding for your stated purposes.  I can't see it concealing anything at those ranges.  Swarovski Z6 would be good, Kahles KX Helia, and IOR are good choices with that reticle, as well.

I think the 4A reticle will work fine for your shooting. Even in a variable FFP scope, it should be fine when cranked up.
Also, the Meopta is another good choice, added to the ones already mentioned.
My brother has a 3-10x50 Meostar on his .223 and it is sweet for coyote hunting.

My 4A is in a Kahles Helia. It is also excellent for any range I use it at. It is easy to see in low light and the thin center section allows for precision sighting.

Thanks guys for the input, I have a scope with a 4a reticle and the more I think about it the more I like it better than my other scopes that sport either a Plex or #7a.

I love the Kahles 4a. My next choice would be a Zeiss Z-Plex. I have a 3.5x10 44 Conquest w/ Z-Plex and it has to be the best duplex reticle ever made in my opinion. I would take either of these two over anything else.
