Leupold Mk4 3x9-40 scope on flattop AR15. Which rings will give proper height? I put a set of Leupold medium hight PRW rings on it and it's about .5 inch too low for my eye line. Note- the PRW's don't look as if they get a good "grip" on the flattop. If it wasn't for that I'd just put .5" risers on it. I don't really see the need for steel mounts on an aluminum receiver but to get the right hight I'll do it. |

Badger or ARMS high's are what your looking for especially if you want to co-witness with BUIS.

The rings get a little better bite on the riser. Since you already have the rings I would just get the riser. The Arms would be a nicer set up though.

Warne 204LM ring was designed to put the cross hairs in the proper place. As for the risers, thats just one more monkey in the tree to give you a problem. Steel is a little over-kill for the aluminum AR, but it will never give you a problem. I have this set up on all three of my AR 15's.

Here is another alternative. Will give you the proper clearance, and can use the iron sights through the rings that are integral to the mount.

I had a B-Square riser as above, but I gave it away because it moved too much (just a wimpy roll pin underneath to locate it on the rail). I went with the Leupold extra-high Mk4s, but the Badgers are awesome, no problems with ARMS (I really like their Swan sleeve) and I've had good luck recently with TPS (but they are always out of stock) but they do make both steel and aluminum

I vastly prefer either the Armalite 1 piece mount or Larue's SPR
mount... Both give the correct height and are cantilevered to
allow the proper eye relief on an AR-15. Unfortunately SWFA
carries neither
