.45 in G21, if you want a full size pistol. Good availability of ammo, power, etc.

so you think i should stick with the old reliable .45 acp then??
the only reason i brought up the 10mm and the .45gap is because of the performance over the .45 acp. i realize that ammo for those two probably wont be as accessible, but is the added power worth the extra money for the ammo? i suppose its really like comparing the .41 mag to the .44mag Edited by pyro6999 - February/16/2010 at 20:27 |

I like the concept of the .45GAP, but cannot beat .45ACP. Ammo is easy to find, not overly expensive and devastating. A few years ago, BO, I would lean toward the GAP, but now, ACP...
Ammo for the 10mm is not easy to come by, not cheap, and I don't like it as well as the .357Sig.

i think the .357 sig is a neat round and it would be mild enough for my wife to handle if needed.

I have or have had experience all the following glocks -17, 19, 23, 33, 34, 26 & 21. If i were getting one and could only have one it would be the 21. ( i even carry a 19 concealed almost daily) best feel even though they are all basically the same gun, I prefered shooting the 21 more and it was more accurate than even the 34. hard to beat the old 45 in my book

Not much a of a glock guy either. Huge fan of the 1911s. Just can't beat the way they shoot and feel to me. But if I was going to get a glock it would be the 45 acp. Probably a 21 unless you want concealed carry. I did really like the XD I shot though.

I personally shot a Glock 22, a XD40 and the Sig P226 and P229, all in .40 and I would say if your not strapped for cash, go with a Sig, around 900-1000 with night sights, or cheaper if you shop around. I think it handles recoil better, has a comfortable grip, and has no problem shooting a variety of bullets. Bullet recommendation would be the Speer Gold Dot JHP, for the simple fact that they were consistently accurate for me, and fairly cheap (I am military so I get a discount where I buy my ammo). If your not a fan of the Sig, or its out of your price range, my second choice would be the XD series. Also the night sights on my Sig (P226 DAK in .40) were absolutely wonderful, and even did some drills inside the house without lights (not loaded of course) and my wife even enjoyed the Sig. I'm obviously a Sig man, but don't think that the others are crap. |

Got my vote, just make sure to pay extra for night sights if you get it. |

you can get them from the factory already installed or you can get aftermarket ones for it. Trijicon makes them for the aftermarket. then you have to get them installed or do it yourself. I dont' remember who makes the factory night sights for glock and I'm at work so I cant look at glocks site to see or look at my 19 in the truck on "work" property if you know what i mean. I will look at lunch and see if it says on my paperwork.
Just googled it and it says that Glock has started making there own night sights on a few places???? I have trijicon on my sig229 and the factory ones on my 19 look identical at night i know that for sure. Edited by SVT_Tactical - February/17/2010 at 09:34 |
