Here it is, the one everyone has been waiting for. What you wil do is take each category, and place two people who you think is the best, and what band they play for, if its not someone like Slash or Zack Wylde. NOW, this isn't an argumentory thread, just for fun, but debating is allowed, but your points have to be proven.

GUITARIST - Synyster Gates - Avenged Sevenfold, Dimebag Darrel (RIP) Pantera
DRUMMER - Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan (RIP) - Avenged Sevenfold, Joey Jordison - Slipknot
LEAD SINGER - Howard Jones - Killswitch Engage, Phil Anselmo - Pantera

Let's see what everyone else has!

its whoever YOU think is the best, whether old school or new. Anyone could say that Neil Peart is the best drummer, or that the drummer from Saliva is the best, its all about who they think is the best.

yeah there are alot of people that I could have used also, not saying they aren't the greatest, these just happen to be my personal favorites, and love their style of playing.

My list isn't about "technical" stuff.  It's just based on what I've seen in person.

Drummer - Lars Ulrich (Metallica), followed by Tommy Lee (Motley Crue)
Guitarist - Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), just for the pure power of the performance.
Singer - Martina McBride - while I'm not usually a big fan of female singers, she's hands down the most incredible live vocalist I've ever seen.  Period.  Just absolutely stunning vocals that almost blew me out of my seat.  (And she's hot as hell, too, so that's a bonus.)

That said, some of my favorite overall performances not represented above were: Jack Ingram (at Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, Texas, in 2002), Pat Greene (at some small venue in Falls Church, VA in 2002), and Robert Earl Keen (at the Shiner Bocktoberfest in 1994?, and the House of Blues in Houston in 2009).  The Circle Jerks and Suicidal Tendencies (both in Houston in 1988?) were wild ones, too.  Also, Depeche Mode, INXS, and OMD all put on great performances back in the late 80's.

Drummer: Jeff Porcaro, Neil Pert, John Bonham
Singer: George Strait, Martina Mcbride, Aretha Franklin
Guitarist: BB King, Duane Allman and Jimi Hendrix

If I posted now my list would probably change several times once I start looking hard at the wide variety music I listen to. The different times, styles, impact, how I feel that day, etc. Tough to nail it down to just two in each category... great post LRSMike......give me about a week....  Big Smile

Steelbenz, Stevie would definitely be in my top 10 for guitarist. Thunbs Up

I really liked The Who as well but got tired of the many "Farewell/Last Show Tours" throughout the years they pulled on their fans. Hunter, I agree, all members in the original band rate right up there with some of the best.

when keith was sober he was probably one of the best pure drummers of all time. sorta like bon scott and his vocals, they were stellar to say the least. stars that burned out too soon.
