Has anyone mounted a riflescope and a red dot sight together on an AR-15? I mounted a 3x9x40 scope on mine with Burris Extreme tactical extra high rings. I was thinking about adding a Burris Fastfire Red Dot Sight with a picatinny ring top. I was in SWFA yesterday and they also showed me a ring top with sidemount picatinny rails. Wanting to know how well it might work. If you have pictures I would appreciate it.

I have an AR with a 20' heavy barrel and a Ziess 2.5-8 on a high ring mount. I got a little attachment that clamps around the scope (I think it's Burris) and it gives you some rail to mount something on. I mounted a Burris Fastfire.
Its fun - but the fastfire up high on top of a scope is a little difficult to use. It works, but not nearly as fast as my EoTech or even my Aimpoint. If it were lower it would be better, but all in all its not the best option for fast shooting. If you are looking for something "combat" I don't think all of the fastfires are waterproof - check before you buy! |

it's used in 3 gun a lot
the best setup is an MRD or T1 in an offset mount on the handguard some mounts put it at a 45 degree angle to the flatop which requires excessive rotation to get onto it quickly Daniel Defense and now Weaver makes one that has less of an angle so less rotation Weaver gave me one at the SHOT show and I will be trying it out soon |

Thanks for the responses. I will not be using it for combat, coyotes mainly and wild pigs. I was thinking about adding the Fastfire in case I lose the coyotes with the scope close in.
