I realize that Leupold has changed the way their vari-x II's are labeled over the years.  Also, I think I might have read once that there are slight differences- maybe in the coatings.  I was wondering about a particular scope though.  On the objective bell ahead of the gold ring, it says "VARI-X IIc 3-9x40 mm".  So, what's with the "c" designation after the vari-x II?  Does that lower case "c" mean anything?  Any idea exactly how old/what generation this scope is?  It also says "Leupold on the side of the turret housing, and a serial number with "made in usa" on the bottom of the turret housing if any of that helps.  Also, this is a gloss finished scope if that matters.

from a quick search...

It denotes a design change that increased the amount of elevation and windage adjustments, around 1984.

Anyone know how long they designated them with the c?  This particular scope doesn't have a mark on it, like it should be nearly new...
