I have a Kahles CL Helio.   Has anyone compared that with a Swaro Z3?  If so, how do they stack up?

I don't have a Z3, but I do have the Z3's predecessor, the AV, which I'm pretty sure has the same glass.  I also have a Kahles CL.  In my opinion, they are roughly equivalent, with maybe a slight edge to the Kahles.

I'd pretty much agree with Ted. I just got a Z-3 and like it a lot so far (although I've not been to the range yet). I've sold my Kahles, but have a friend with one. By observation only, my opinion is that they are about equal...both are VERY GOOD. I'd lean towards the Swaro though. That's just my $.02.

I find the view through the Swaro slightly more appealing to my eye(s).

I have had a CL 3-10-50 and a AH 3-9x42
to me, the CL was ever so slightly better and I prefered the #4 reticle of the CL
I kept the CL

would tend to agree
I just thought the standard plex reticle of the Swarovksi got lost in very low light
that's a reticle issue not a scope issue per se

IMHO the Swaro "plex" is equivalent to the Leupold "fine duplex".
I use the Swaro 4a (much like Kahles #4 you prefer) for very low light situations.
