Any thoughts on Leupold Heavy Duplex compared to Leupold German #4 for low light and general hunting?

I like the #4 for low light and heavy cover. Though its hard to beat the standard duplex for all general hunting needs.

I like the German #4 much better. The bars are very thick but just before they come together they get thin for precise shot placement. The center of the Leupold covers to much of the target for me in heavy duplex.

I wished I had a place to go and look at the different reticles but I do not. I have a leupold duplex but to me it does not show up in low light very good so thanks for the input, I like the German #4 to but it is going to cost me more because I will have to custom order it. If its worth it I will do it.

I've used both. I can't think of where one works any better than the other except the #4 seems to obscure less.

The heavy duplex is really heavy even the center portion of the duplex is rather heavy and much more suited to hunting than any target work. If you need low light optics consider Trijicons illuminated Accupoint scopes as well.

If you are leaning towards a German #4 in the Leupold then I suggest you consider the Leupold POST AND DUPLEX. It is like the German #4 in that the side and bottom posts are thicker than the top post but they are not as thick as the German #4 posts. Also, the heavy posts come closer together in the center of the reticle while the German #4 has a much wider spacing between the heavy posts in the center of the reticle. I have not owned one of these but have seen several pictures of actual view through the scope and I liked the Post and Dupex best. Just something to consider. Of course this reticle has to be ordered through the Leupold custom shop.
