Im looking for an affordable scope with mildots, external turrets, and good quality.  It will be for a Remington 700p  .308.  I would like it to be 1000 yard capable with my 20 moa base.   I already have a Super Sniper on another rifle and love it but I want to try something new for this rifle.  Which would be a better choice?  It will mainly be for target shooting and fun but I want something that will get the job done. Thanks for any help!

To be honest with you, I am not sure what the right answer here is, since I have not seen the two scopes side by side.

I have, however, spent a little time with them separately, so here some comments:

-Elite 6500 2.5-16x42 is a better allround scope:  it is a bit more versatile due to a larger magnification range, and it has more flexible eye relief.  It is also lighter and more compact.

-Burris XTR 3-12x50 is a little bigger and bulkier.  It will have a little bit of an edge in low light simply because of a larger objective lens.  On a flip side, it has to be mounted a littl higher.

Overall optical and mechanical quality is probably pretty similar, so you pretty much have to choose based on features.  If you expect to spend most of the time in difficult lighting conditions, Burris might be a better choice.  If you are simply wondering which one is a better allround scope, I would go with Elite 6500.
