I have a strange idea.
Lets say that I have a 10x scope but I want to have the flexibility of shooting under 100yds. So what if I mounted an eotech or similar small holographic sight to a scope mounted accessory rail so that it would just clear the turrets on my scope. A couple of companies make "ring rails" that can be positioned anywhere on the scope tube. It seems like this could work well from 10-100yds on moving targets that the 10x scope would be useless on... Has anyone done this?

Somethings like this seems fairly common those days, except that people usually use one of micro-red dot sights like Docter, instead of the Eotech.
Trijicon even sells the whole package together with the ACOG, I think. ILya

the set up is fairly common in 3 gun matchs for two reasons, not only for shots in the 7 -50 yd range, but the sights are mounted on the side. Some stages will have a obstruction that does not allow visual using the scope as they are set high on ars. Mounting on the side allows the ar to turned sideways for the close shot.

Depending on the scope choice it looks like it would work sweet on an AR platform. |
